A LOOK AT BUDDY ROBERTS
BY Bob Conklin for MMA-KO
Buddy Roberts is poised on the edge. He is on the
brink of moving into the upper echelon in MMA. Maybe only two to three
fights away from signing with one of the elite organizations in Mixed
Martial Arts. Whether his future lies with UFC or Strikeforce that
future looks bright indeed for this talented young fighter from Reno,
Nevada.

Buddy (9-2, with 4 (T) KOs, and 5 submissions) is
originally from Mansfield, Texas where he played football while in
college, and was a big fan of Ultimate Fighter. While at a GNC in the
mall, the employee working there asked Buddy if he’d ever thought about
fighting and invited him to come and train at his gym. Moving to Reno in
January 2007 to train with Ken Shamrock at The Lion’s Den, Buddy had his
first fight in March 2007. Buddy has said that it was at this time that
he fell in love with the sport.
Buddy’s most recent fight scheduled for October 30th
versus Marcus Sursa was cancelled when Sursa was injured just prior to
the scheduled match. Buddy had trained hard for that fight was ready for
the battle. With his opponent unable to fight, and the circumstances
surrounding that event it was a pretty big let down for Buddy.
Buddy who fights at 205 lbs. currently trains with
Nevada MMA and has held a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu for two years.
Buddy is going to San Diego in January to train
with Brandon Vera, and expects that his next fight will be some time in
the January to March time frame.

Buddy would like to thank his teammates and
coaches as well as Reno City Boxing, Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Nevada
Muay Thai, and Push Your Limits. He also thanks his sponsors including
Bully’s Sports Bar, Forever Young,
Carnaldamage.com,
kingduce.com(pictures), and Stan Durst @
Durstco Consulting.
