MMA-KO: First off Jaime we would like to
thank you for your returning back to
MMA-KO!
MMA-KO: On May 9th, at the Stockton Civic
Center you will be taking on The King Of Stockton Steve
Heath for the Middleweight Championship. How excited are you
about this Championship fight?
Jaime: I’m excited, I’m excited about any
belt fight, I know it’s a big event, anytime it’s a belt
fight I get extra excited.
MMA-KO: This is a Huge fight!!! How do you
see this Championship fight going?
Jaime: I’m just gonna go in there and start
driving nails, I feel good on my feet, I feel good on the
ground, so no matter where the fight goes I’m confident.
MMA-KO: Now Jaime you are the first fighter
in MMA history to own titles in four different weight
classes. Now the Pure Combat Middleweight Title is up for
grabs. How much more important is this Pure Combat
Middleweight Championship title then your previous
Championships Gladiator Challenge?
Jaime: I don’t know if it’s more important,
anytime it’s a belt that’s on the line for me to collect,
it’s adding to my resume, any belt fight is really important
to me, I’ve trained really hard for this fight.
MMA-KO: What is your mindset while
approaching this Championship fight?
Jaime: I just stay focused, I stay focused on
the fight it’s self, I’ve trained really hard, I just got to
stay mentally strong, sometimes the training breaks me down
and I just got to stay mentally on track.
MMA-KO: How is you're training coming along
for this fight?
Jaime: Good, Great, this training cycle’s
just about over, I’ve got the rest of this week to train
hard then I’m going to rest up & be ready for next week. So
far I haven’t got any really bad injuries or anything so I
feel good, I’m ready to go I’m in great shape, I’m ready for
a 5 - 5.
MMA-KO: What do you think your advantages are
going to be in this Championship fight?
Jaime: I like to think my conditioning, I’m
in the best condition that I’ve ever been for any fight this
time so I’d like to think my conditioning so if it goes 5 -
5 I think I’m going to be in good condition for this fight,
I think that may be an advantage to me. But like I said I’ve
really trained my stand up & I’ve really worked on my ground
so no matter where this fight ends up I feel confident no
matter where this fight goes.
MMA-KO: What is your game plan coming in to
this fight?
Jaime: I just go out there & I’m going to
start driving nails, I’m going to start throwing, & if I
don’t like the way it’s going it’s feet then I’ll take it to
the ground, I just go out there & I got to feel the
opponent. They always say your game plan goes out the window
as soon as you get hit, I really don’t think what I’m really
going to do in my mind, I just go out there & I have to
react to it, to what my opponent’s doing.
MMA-KO: What do you know about Steve Heath,
and what have you done in your training to prepare for him?
Jaime: I know he’s a brown belt with Ceaser
Gracie so I’m assuming his Jujitsu’s good, but like I said I
train for everything, every situation, as long as I train
for every situation it doesn’t matter what he does. I
trained my stand up, I trained for it to be standing up,
I’ve trained for it to be on the ground, I’ve trained for it
in between that & the transition, so it doesn’t matter what
he does because I’ve trained for everything, for every
situation.
MMA-KO: Now Jaime you are very dangerous on
the ground and on your feet. What kind of training do you do
to get such awesome skills?
Jaime: I train with boxers, I get in there &
I actually train with real boxers, who’s got the best hands?
So I go in there, I go to the boxing gym & I spar with the
boxers & I get my conditioning up, I think conditioning is
the part of it, no matter how good you are if your
conditionings not there, exhaustion makes a coward out of
every body.
MMA-KO Jaime, can you tell us what your
childhood was like and how you became the man you are
today?
Jaime: I guess it was just like every body
else’s, I wrestled & my dad was my wrestling coach in high
school & I excelled at wrestling & then I started doing
martial arts, I got into the mma side of it, I picked up the
Jujitsu, I’m a natural grappler, I’ve really pick that up
quick. I started boxing, why not just put it all together.
MMA-KO: How do you get into mixed martial
arts?
Jaime: I just happen to run into the right
people at the right time, it was more of an accident than
anything. Seen some fighters training, I got in there
training with them & I liked it, I always wanted to do it
just didn’t know how to get into it, so I ran into the right
people at the right time.
MMA-KO: Looking at yourself what do you feel
is your best quality as a fighter?
Jaime: My heart. Because I’m not going to
stop no matter no what.
MMA-KO: What is the one thing you want people
to know about Jaime Jara?
Jaime: That I plan on going in there and
fight, I always fight my hardest, I always try to put a show
on for the fans and in order to do that I have to train
hard, I train hard, I train to win.
MMA-KO: Is there anyone you would like to
thank?
Jaime: Ya I’d like to thank my team, my
coaches; I’d to thank my sponsors Warrior Wear, Agony
Athletics, Malicious, HARD KNOCK FIGHT WEAR, Assault Fight
Gear, and Skin Industries. But mainly my coaches, Al Garcia
& Mike Rumsey for getting me ready to fight, & my teammates.
MMA-KO: On behalf of MMA KO, I want to thank
you again for taking the time to do this interview |
