In The 4th Title Fight Of The Night Josh Thornberg is set to defend his lightweight title Article by Hit Boy

Gracie fighter Josh Thornberg (5-1) is set to defend his lightweight title vs up and comer Andre Fili 3-0 who fights out of Boss Biz / Righteous Warriors Fight Team . Thornberg is coming off a hug win at "Champions" where he landed a solid 1-2 combination to send Larry Wasson (2-2) to the mat, where Thornberg pounced on him submitting with a gullotine choke, Wasson's only other loss had come at the hands of former KOTC, GC champion James Fanshier. Thornberg has fought every month since March 2010 " I am hungry and I want to fight 4 more times this year, this is my way of life." Thornberg who trains with Nick and Nate Diaz has a goal in mind and that is to cement his legacy with Gladiator Challenge as one of the great champions and then move on to the UFC. Thornberg understands its a long road ahead but he is willing to put in the work day in and day out. When asked
about his opponet Andre Fili, he simply said " I will win this fight by KO, I watched his last fight when he beat Justin Smitely (6-7), I hope he doesnt think the lightweight division is going to be a walk in the park. He hasnt seen anyone like me yet. When I get a submission it sticks, thers no getting out of it."

Andre Fili made a statement at Champions winning by TKO over former Gladiator Challenge 145lb Champion Justin Smitely, Smitley was a heavy favorite going into the fight based on experience alone. Smitely had fought some of the best 145lb fighters in the world leading up to that fight.Smitely who stepped up a weight class to fight Fili pressed the action but appeared to gas towards the end of the fight, Fili was the fresher of the two, fighting out of a submission and raining down a barrage of punches to end the fight. " Fili fought a guy who can easily make 135lbs, I walk around at 185 and cut to 55's, I will be the bigger and stronger guy in the cage on July 17th." said Thornberg. Dont get me wrong Fili is quick has good movement but he isnt ready for what I am going to bring."
