Josh Thornburg Silences The Critics and the Non-Believers Article by HITBOYMMA

Dan Gryder's Global Knockout didnt only return, they returned with a bang! The 900 seat venue at the beautiful Jackson Rancheria hotel and casino was packed from mountain cliff to mountain cliff . The star studded event was nothing less then a success and the Main event was icing on the cake. The former Gladiator Challenge Lightweight champion (6-1)Josh Thornburg, who recently vacated his belt with Gladiator Challenge to take a fight that many in the MMA world argued had no chance at beating the UFC veteren (12-8) Tim Mckenzie. Thornburg was strong from the opening bell taking only a minute to secure an armbar to win Global Knockout's welterweight championship. The crowd roared from the second Thornburg was visable as he made his way towards the cage, the crowd never let up showing their support for the newly crowned champion. Many thought Thornburgs only chance was to keep it standing and many were suprised Thornburg made it look so easy. As Thornburg
addressed the crowd, he had only one thing to say "I only have one blemish on my record and he knows who he is, Mut I want you next, lets do it!" The crowed expressed their approval as they irrupted in cheers. The next couple of fights for Thornburg are very important, this win was huge and a step in the right direction to the next level. " Strike force and the UFC are my goals and I will do everything possible to make that dream a reality". My family have been huge supporters, I want to thank my team, my training partners, sponsors and all those that have helped me get where I am, I could not be happier with where my career is headed." Thornburgs next appearance may be scheduled for November or December with a return to Global Knockout and possibly back at Enrique Perez's Rebel fighter in Febuary.
The submission of the night came at the hands of Gracie fighter (4-0)Darin Cooley as he locked in a rear naked choke at 3:57 of the 2nd round over Daniel Romero who dropped to (2-2), Romero started fast as usual but ran out of gas after the first round, Cooley wore him down with take downs, it appeared Cooley was just to strong and took the fight right where he wanted it at will. Romero got on the crowds bad side right away as he unleashed a flurry of strikes and knees to Cooley just as they both reached to touch gloves at the start of the fight.
The knockout of the night came from amatuer fighter Nick Williams who fights out of the school of hard knox Carnage fight team. It took Nick all of 15 seconds to land an overhand right on the chin of independennt fighter Steve Cartwright.
