MMA Referee School

RELEASE) -- MMA Referee School (MMARS) is in session with Herb Dean
Oct 16 & 17, 2010 at Fight Academy, 61 West Valley Street, Pasadena,
CA 91105.
Join us October 16 & 17 2010, in Pasadena for the first California
MMA Judge and MMA Referee seminars. MMARS is recognized by the ABC
(Association of Boxing Commission).
MMA is the fastest growing sport on earth. The need for well trained
MMA officials is necessary for the betterment of the sport. The main
objective of this course is to share knowledge and my experience in
an effort to maintain high standards and consistency in MMA
officiating.

Here is how the MMARS program works:
There are 3 seminars in the complete program - Judge, Referee and
Shadow Official. Each seminar is unique and none of the material is
duplicated. Everyone is welcome to take any of the seminars!
Course descriptions are as follows:
Judge Seminar:
Classroom time covers Unified Rules, judging criteria, scoring
guidelines, and techniques. Video review to judge fights with
discussion. Written and video tests.
Referee Seminar:
Classroom time covers Unified Rules, ethics, duties, bout results,
and techniques. Video review to referee fights with discussion.
Written, video and technique tests. Physical demonstration of MMA
technique.
Shadowing Official Seminar (for either Judge or Referee):
Attend an event shadowing Herb for a day. Get practical in the field
training and witness all aspects from the rules meeting to
debriefing at the close of the event. Full day event can be 6 to 14
hours (varies with each event). Transition smoothly from the
classroom to the cage while having the most experienced official on
hand for any questions. Scheduled on an individual basis.
