San Jose fighter Koscheck to fight on UFC 113 card alongside

113 in Montreal is set to be headlined by the anticipated rematch
between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida
and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Though not officially announced, the bout
is all but set in stone. The rest of the card is starting to fill
up, as well.
American Kickboxing Academy product Josh Koscheck (14-4), who trains
part of the time at the San Jose gym and runs a satellite version of
it in Fresno, will likely face British fighter Paul Daley (23-8-2)
in the co-main event. Another expected addition to the card is MMA
cash cow Kimbo Slice (4-1) locking horns with slugger and former NFL
player Matt Mitrione (1-0).
Daley is on the rise and in the hunt for a title shot, having won
two straight fights by TKO/KO to start off his UFC career. And while
Koscheck has already been there, and is looking to get another shot
at being on top of the mountain, health concerns sidelined him from
a proposed UFC 109 bout against the last man to defeat him, Paulo
Thiago. The question is whether or not those same injury concerns
will keep him out of this bout, which MMAJunkie reports has already
verbally been agreed to.
Coming off an effective if unspectacular decision win over Houston
Alexander at a catchweight of 215 lbs. at The Ultimate Fighter
Season 10 Finale, Kimbo Slice will be looking to prove that he can
really bang with the big boys. Mitrione is massive, and defeated the
favored Marcus Jones on the same card. It will be a stiff test for
Slice, but one that will be sure to draw tons of viewers, as the
former street fighter makes his UFC PPV debut.
