UFC 110 preliminary card results: Lytle pulls off big submission, Bonnar unlucky By Phil Lanides

The preliminary portion of UFC 110 is in the books. Here are the results:

James Te Huna defeated Igor Pokrajac via TKO (strikes) - Round 3, 3:26: An exciting back-and-forth bout that saw Te Huna take the first round, while Pokrajac likely evened things up in the second round. In the third round, both fighters looked a little tired, and in the end, Te Huna was able to take advantage. A right hand sent Pokrajac to the mat, and the Australian native followed up and finished for the TKO victory.

C.B. Dollaway defeated Goran Reljic via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28): Not the most exciting fight, but there was a good amount of action in this one. Dollaway gets the close win, and perhaps gets a spot on the main card for his next fight.

Chris Lytle defeated Brian Foster via submission (knee-bar) - Round 1, 1:41: Foster made a cardinal mistake in this one: don’t get into a slugfest with a former pro boxer. Both fighters traded big blows to get things started. Lytle stunned Foster with a left hand, who decided to shoot in. The Indiana native took advantage and locked in a gruesome kneebar. A hold rarely seen in MMA, but it was more than enough, and Lytle’s return to the Octagon is successful.

Krzysztof Soszynski defeated Stephan Bonnar via TKO (cut) - Round 3, 1:04: After an eye-poke from Bonnar in the first round, it appeared that he caught an accidental head-butt. It started a flow of blood from his nose, and though it didn’t come for the while, the end did come as a result of the cut. Regardless, it was a very exciting packed with action. By the third round, Bonnar is bleeding all over the place, and the ref stops the fight and has the doctor check the cut. Doc recommends the fight is stopped, and the ref obliges. Bonnar questions if the fight should have been stopped, as it was a head-butt that precipitated the end.

Definitely some solid action to get the UFC’s debut in Australia underway. Be sure to check back for the full results later on.
