WEC Veteran Headlines
Upcoming Jackson’s MMA Series II Card
(PRESS
RELEASE) -- After an exciting and action packed fight card for the
first ever Jackson’s MMA Series Event, Coach Greg Jackson and
Jackson’s Gym are presenting the Jackson’s MMA Series II on
September 4th at the new Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Albuquerque,
New Mexico. The fight card will feature WEC veteran Coty “OX”
Wheeler and Ray Robinson out of Gracie Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona.
Wheeler is a proven and exciting fighter with three flying armbar
finishes among many more submission victories. He won Fight of the
Night honors for his fight with Will Campuzano at WEC 46. This
matchup with Robinson will be a tough test for “OX” as he makes his
way his way back to the cage. This will be Wheeler’s first fight
back in New Mexico since the February 2008 WEC card in Albuquerque.
One advantage “OX” is looking forward to having is his Mescalero
tribe showing up in full force. Wheeler is a native of the Mescalero
tribe out of southern New Mexico. His entrance to the cage is filled
with native dances, costumes, and dancers. It is one of the more
exciting entrances in all of sports.
Wheeler’s opponent, Ray Robinson, is an experienced fighter with 14
fights and six submission victories (sherdog.com). He trains out of
Gracie Arizona, a very prominent Jiu-Jitsu school with talented
fighters. Robinson is no slouch and should be a tough test for
Wheeler in his 1st fight since January on the popular WEC show. We
should look for a fast paced battle that could end at any time with
a spectacular submission or on the feet.
