MMA-KO: First off Jack it’s
great to have you at MMA-KO
THE MOTOR: Thank you! It is
exciting to be here.
MMA-KO: On Saturday Nov 22,
2008, at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville,Ca
you will be taking on Garrett " The Spartan" Dugger for the
Rebel Fighter 155lb championship belt. How excited are you
about this Championship fight?
THE MOTOR: I am extremely
stoked! I am looking forward to winning the first of many
titles of my career.
MMA-KO: This is going to be a
good one!!! How do you see this Championship fight going?
THE MOTOR: Dugger is a tough
kid and see this possibly going deep into the 5 rds.
MMA-KO: How is your training
coming along for this fight?
THE MOTOR: My training camp is
one of the best ever so far. I have had a lot of help from
several area teams plus the already top quality training I
get with my team at Fighters Pro Shop.
MMA-KO: What do you think your
advantages are going to be in this Championship fight?
THE MOTOR: My biggest
advantages I believe will be my height. I'm a 6ft tall 155
pounder and my looks, Garrett will have a hard time not
getting lost in my beautiful eyes!!!
MMA-KO: What is your game plan
coming into this fight?
THE MOTOR: I'm not much of a
game plan fighter. We have seen quite a few of his fights on
video. We have geared my training to that but I will be more
of a reactive fighter once I am in the cage.
MMA-KO: What do you know about
Garrett "The Spartan" Dugger, and what have you done in your
training to prepare for him?
THE MOTOR: We know he is tough,
pretty quick, and extremely flexible. I have put in tons
more cardio for this fight. Garrett is in great shape.
MMA-KO: What is your mindset
while approaching this Championship fight?
THE MOTOR: My mindset is that I
am the best small show 155lb fighter out there. It won't be
long until The Motor is a household name.
MMA-KO: How did you get into
mixed martial arts?
THE MOTOR: I love competition.
I have wrestled my whole life, boxed alot while I was
younger(trying to get on Toughman Comps but it never
happened).
Then one day had the opportunity to train with BJJ BlackBelt
and UFC vet Lowell Anderson and very experienced Thai
fighter Kelly Abella
MMA-KO: What is your favorite
fighting style?
THE MOTOR: Normally I would try
to hide this but at this point everyone knows I love BJJ.
MMA-KO: Tell me one thing about
yourself that your fans wouldn’t suspect?
THE MOTOR: I am a sweetheart.
Most people are surprised when they find out I punch people
for money.
MMA-KO: Do you have a manager?
Who are your trainers?
THE MOTOR: I have a management
company ClearCut Personal Fitness that I set up to help new
fighters in the sport. There are alot of dishonest people
out there. Young fighters are easily taken advantage of and
given poor career advice. I want to change that. I am a
fighter managing for fighters benefits. My trainers are
BlackBelt Lowell Anderson and Thai instructor Kelly Abella.
I dont think I could ask for any better people to learn
from.(Keep in mind they are just as lucky to have me as a
student)haha.
MMA-KO: How did the nickname "
The Motor" come about?
THE MOTOR: I like to tell
people its because I don't stop and come with alot of
horsepower but it's basically because my mouth is always
running.
MMA-KO: Is there anyone you’d
like to thank?
THE MOTOR: I would like to
thank God, my wife Angel, my girls Sidney, Jacey, and Laney.
They put up with Dad being gone alot. My trainers and team
at Fighters Pro Shop. Also Richard Montoya with BattleBorn
Fight Team, Chris McLeod of the High Desert Hitmen, Buddy
Roberts at the Lions Den, and Frank Peralta all for helping
me prepare for this. Also I would like to thank my sponsors
Assault Fight gear, Fightersproshop.com, Fight4Christ mma,
and No Quarter apparel. I cant leave out MMAKO!!!! Thank you
for this interview and everything you have done and will do
to help fighters.
MMA-KO: Anything you would like
to say in closing?
THE MOTOR: Please come check
out the fight Nov 22nd in Placerville, CA. Be more
politically aware. Times are changing, freedoms are being
lost, tragedys happen throughout the world(Darfur). Please
take the time to know what is going on. Just because it
isn't happening to you doesn't mean it won't have an effect
on your life!!!
MMA-KO: On behalf of MMA-KO
thank you for this interview and good luck in this
championship fight!!!
THE MOTOR:Thank you and will be
looking forward to seeing good things for MMAKO in 09 |
