Interviews-  Tyson Griffin

MMA-KO GETS A EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH

TYSON GRIFFIN

MMA-KO: What is you're fighting style?

GRIFFIN: My base was wrestling and I guess my style is ground and pound but I like to stand as well.  I believe I'm a true mixed martial artist now.

MMA-KO: I seen you're debut fight on UFC 63 and I was very excited to see a local guy hit the big time UFC. How did this feel?

GRIFFIN: It felt great. Fighting in front of big crowds like the UFC gives you great energy as an athlete and it was an awesome experience.  Im happy to know my hard work paid off and I've now got a home with the UFC.

MMA-KO: I seen you dominate the small circuit of mma and then come into UFC and dominate that fight as well, Joe
Rogan has always said, some fighters get like stage fright. What were you're emotions entering the Octagon?
GRIFFIN: It felt like any other fight man....I was just relaxed and ready to fight.  It wasn't the first big show I fought in and that probably helped a lot.  Not to mention that I was at the same venue a few months before cornering Dave Terrell when he fought Scott Smith.  Its kinda funny though, it seems the bigger the show the less faces you actually see, so although it seems bigger and more intimidating its not as nerve racking as the small shows where you can see the guy in the last row staring at you.

MMA-KO: How did the UFC approach you?

GRIFFIN: They called my manager and asked if i was interested in fighting for them and of course I was more than interested.

MMA-KO: Did Dana White give you a 3 fight deal?
GRIFFIN: Yeah I signed a three fight deal before fighting at UFC63.

MMA-KO: What was Dana Whites reaction when you dominated you're opponent in UFC 63?

GRIFFIN: To be honest I didn't get the chance to speak with him after the fight, but Joe Silva was real happy with my performance.

MMA-KO: You're going to fight Frank Edgar this Saturday. What do you know of him?

GRIFFIN: I know he's a D-1 wrestler and that he has a 5-0 record but that's about it.

MMA-KO:  I don't want to look ahead but when you win this fight. Who do you want next?

GRIFFIN: I don't really care who I fight, but I like to fight tough competition and big names that will help me move up in the rankings.

MMA-KO: What do you think of the UFC lightweight Champ Sean Sherk?
GRIFFIN: I think he's a tough fighter and someone I look forward to fighting.  It would be a great honor to fight for the title but more than anything would be awesome to compete against someone of his caliber.

MMA-KO: When do you think you will be ready for a Title shot in the UFC?

GRIFFIN: I'm ready whenever the UFC thinks I am.  I like a challenge and if that's not for another year or two... I'll wait, but if the UFC management thinks I'm ready sooner I'll gladly say yes.

MMA-KO: I love when a fighter enters the Octagon. It is one of my favorites, What music will you come out to on Saturday night?

GRIFFIN: That's a funny question cause I usually have friends put together entrance music. I know some guys in the rap industry and it's fun to have a song made just for yourself with lyrics that fit you, but it didn't come together this time, so I think I'm gonna go with "Eye Of The Tiger"

MMA-KO: Who will win this Saturday, Lutter or Silva?
GRIFFIN: I think its gonna be a close one, but I'm going with Anderson Silva on this one.

MMA-KO: What would you want to tell the fans about TYSON GRIFFIN?
GRIFFIN: Well to all my loyal fans thanks for the support and to all the other mma fans out there, keep watching and supporting the lightweight division.

THANKS TYSON FOR YOU'RE TIME!

THIS IS WHY THE MMA FIGHTERS ARE THE BEST ATHLETES IN THE WORLD.
