Global Fury Cagefighting’s debut show, GFC 1, was extremely successful, drawing over 2,800 die-hard mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to the Albuquerque Convention Center in February 2009.  As their first major production in the sport of MMA, promoters Abel Rivera and Christian Maes were extremely pleased with the outcome of GFC 1.  For their second promotion in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, they promise twice the excitement, twice the talent, and, of course, twice the fury for GFC 2 “Unstoppable.”

Headlining the always-competitive GFC fight card is undefeated local phenom Lenny “The Godfather” Lovato (9-0).  The Godfather will put his perfect record on the line against UFC veteran Nate Mohr (8-6) who comes to Albuquerque from the Windy City, Chicago, IL.

Rounding out the top of the card is Roswell’s talented local star Richard Villa who will be facing Danny Davis, an experienced stand-up fighter from the famous Fasi Sports in Las Vegas, NV.

The next bout will match undefeated veteran Jason “Death Trap” Tapia (8-0) against Gabriel Vian (1-0), a fighter with an extensive amateur career who likes to stand and bang.  Making his second pro fight, Gabriel is fighting out of the Excel Defense Studio in Las Vegas, NV.

GFC will also introduce its first match in an exciting and very competitive weight class: Flyweight (125 pounds).  A crowd favorite and always exciting Mikey “The Burque Bulldog” Lovato (8-1) from Albuquerque Kickboxing and MMA will be facing Desert Xtreme Flyweight Champion Jasper Church.  Jasper is fighting out of the Cullum Ground Fighting Academy in Tucumcari, NM.  This fight will be action packed and intense, so don’t blink.

It would not be a GFC show without the extremely talented and always exciting Felipe “Flip” Chavez (4-1).  This bantamweight (145 pounds), who trains out of Albuquerque Kickboxing and MMA, brings the fight to his opponents every time.  He will be taking on a very tough opponent in Brooklyn Huntsman (3-0), a dedicated fighter representing Excel Defense Studio in Las Vegas, NV.

Next on this exciting fight card is a Grudge Match between “Burque” Mike Valdez (4-3) and Eugene Fliss.  The popular and energetic Valdez is an Albuquerque native who now lives and trains in Tempe, AZ.  Fliss is an intense, always prepared fighter training out of the Fliss Camp in Belen, NM.  This will be a middleweight (155 pounds) war as these two fighters know each other well and have no love loss between them.

Finally, Turell “Freakstrong” Galloway, representing FIT NHB, will be facing Paco “The Punisher” Castillo at 135 pounds.  Galloway is a rising star that always lives up to his nickname “Freakstrong”—just ask any of his opponents.  Castillo from Hartford, TX, has become a familiar face in the New Mexico MMA scene as he is making his third appearance in Albuquerque this year.
